Scott Fastlane E-Bike – battery & motor explained

SCOTT FASTLANE E-BIKE
BATTERY & MOTOR EXPLAINED

Di2
The FastLane Di2 system is powered directly by the main battery, recharging automatically when the bike is plugged in. A blue light illuminates when the button is pressed, confirming activation.

Range extender
The range extender is secured to the bottle cage with a cable tie. If removed, a new cable tie will be required to reattach it, available in our Port Soller shop.

Charging the batteries
In order to charge the extender and the main frame together, you need to plug the charger into the top of the extender. If you plug into the main frame directly, it will not charge the Extender.

No built-in display
The Scott Fastlane does not have a screen.
You can connect your bike to a bike computer such as the Garmin or Wahoo to see detailed ride and battery information.
Alternatively, you can always check the battery using the LED lights on the handlebars (explained below).

Our Scott Fastlane e-bikes use two batteries
– Range extender: about 1/3 of total capacity
– Main battery in the frame: about 2/3 of total capacity

How it works
– If the range extender is connected, the bike uses it first.
– When extender is connected, the initial 5 LED lights on the handlebars show the extender power only, not the overall battery life.

What you’ll notice
At the start of your ride, the battery indicator may appear to drop quickly. This is because it is only showing the charge level of the range extender, not the main battery.
If the handlebar lights are displaying 2 lights, this does not mean your total battery is low.
It simply means the range extender has been partially used — your main battery is still at 100%.

When the extender is empty
There will be a brief pause, then the bike automatically switches to the main battery.
The display will return to 5 lights, showing the power of the main battery.

This means that even when the lights drop early in your ride, you still have most of the battery remaining.

5 lights mean 100% charge, 4 lights 80% charge and so on…
