What's included

This circular walk starts and ends in Valldemossa, a beautifully preserved Mallorcan village, which is a 30 minute transfer by minivan from Soller and the Port. It rewards the walker with magnificent views over part of the western coastline and offers an insight into the life of one of the island’s famous residents, Archduke Ludwig Salvador.
Shortly after arriving in Valldemossa we enter the Muntanya del Voltor, a preserved woodland of holm oak. We enjoy a great view over the bay of Palma before we ascend a mountainside with views over the coastine.
The path continues to two excellent viewpoints, from one we can see the village of Banyalbufar. The path then descends into a sheltered area of forest, here we see evidence of the people who once lived in the woods. There are ruins of stone homes, a lime kiln and a number of charcoal hearths.
Shortly after we join the Archduke’s trail, the purpose-built stone path snakes along the ridge for nearly 2 kilometres, it towers high above the coastline offering unrivalled views as far as Port Soller. The highest point gained on the path is the Puig Caragoli at 945 metres.
